His Majesty the King of Kona, the Honorable Prime Minister of Kona, the Deputy Minister of Human Resource Development of Kona, Dr. Kranti Khunte and the Ambassador of Kona to India, Dr. Kulwant Singh Saluja, while congratulating on Eid ul-Fitr, said that Eid ul-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر) is a religious festival celebrated by Muslims after a month of Ramzan ul-Mubarak. Which is called Eid ul-Fitr. It is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal al-Mukarram. Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar. Like all the months of the Islamic calendar, it also begins on the sighting of the new moon. The Muslim festival of Eid is basically a festival that promotes brotherhood. Everyone celebrates this festival together and prays to God for happiness, peace and blessings. The joy of Eid is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the world. The Muslim festival of Eid is celebrated on the first day of the moon after the setting of the Ramzan moon and the sighting of the Eid moon. This is one of the two Eids in Islam (the other is called Eid ul Zuha or Eid of Qurbani). The first Eid ul Fitr was celebrated by Prophet Muhammad in 624 AD after the Battle of Badr. On the occasion of Eid ul Fitr, the believers of Allah worship Allah for the whole month, keep fasts and purify their souls by reciting the Qur’an (Ibadat), the day of receiving the reward or wages of which is called the day of Eid, which is celebrated as a festival by Muslims all over the world with great joy.

 

The most important purpose of Eid ul Fitr is that it is mandatory to give Fitra to the poor so that those who are poor and helpless can celebrate their Eid, wear new clothes and share happiness with each other in the society. Fitra is mandatory for those who own 52.50 tola silver or 7.50 tola gold, they should pay Sadqa-e-Fitra for themselves and their minor children, which has to be done before the Eid ul Fitr namaz.

 

Eid is a festival of brotherhood and mutual harmony. On the day of Eid, people hug each other to increase love in each other’s hearts and eliminate hatred.Apart from the joy of the end of fasting, Muslims also thank Allah on this Eid for giving them the strength to fast for a month. However, salvation is never possible by fasting because it is not mentioned in the holy scriptures. The Holy Quran Sharif also instructs to worship Almighty Allah to attain complete salvation by taking the right way of worship from the Bakhbar Saint. During Eid, apart from eating good food, new clothes are also worn and gifts are exchanged among family and friends. Seviyya is the most important food item of this festival which is eaten with great relish by all.

 

On the day of Eid, it is the duty of every Muslim to give charity or alms before the morning prayer in the mosques. This donation is called Zakat ul-Fitr. This donation can be two kilograms of any daily food item, for example, flour, or even the value of those two kilograms. This Zakat is distributed among the poor before the day of Eid. Apart from the joy of the end of fasting, Muslims also thank Allah on this Eid for giving them the strength to fast for the whole month. Apart from eating good food, new clothes are also worn during Eid and gifts are exchanged among family and friends. Seviyya is the most important food item of this festival which is eaten with great relish by all.

It tells that a person should sacrifice his desires for his humanity, so that a better society can be built.

Eid ul Fitr is decided by seeing the moon a day before. After the moon is seen, Eid is celebrated the next day. In Saudi Arabia, the moon is seen a day before and in India the moon is seen a day later, so the festival of Eid is celebrated for two days. Eid is an important festival, so there is a holiday on this day. On the day of Eid, its preparations start from the morning itself. People make different types of dishes, delicacies on this day and wear new clothes.
